Sitemap is essential part not just for classifieds, but for any website that wants to be visible in search engines. Sitemap generator plugin generates sitemap.xml file in root folder with links to essential content of your classifieds:

  • Listings
  • Categories
  • Countries
  • Regions
  • Cities

Once sitemap file is created, it is sent (pinged) to most popular search engines:

  • Google
  • Bing
  • Yahoo (deprecated, as yahoo service has been shut down)

You can also easily add sitemap.xml file (that is created on https://yoursite.com/sitemap.xml) into tool you need, as example google search console.

Sitemap links for categories, countries, regions and cities (and their combinations) are generated just in case there exists at least 1 listing. Pages with no listings are not included in sitemap.

 

What is sitemap?

A good XML sitemap acts as a road map, or navigation, for search engines like Google to all important pages of your classifieds website. XML sitemaps improves SEO on your site as search engines knows on what URLs is your content located.

Having link in sitemap, however does not mean it will be automatically added into SERP, search engine decides based on ranking of your website if adding particular link to search engine will be beneficial for their customers or not.

If istalled, it is not working. The Google Search Console says "Couldn't fetch". Why do you do plugins that not works? :)
